Hey Lovelies
Being in a corporate world means following strict rules of dressing although dressing all depends on what work environment you find yourself in. There are about four types of work environment and for these four there are four ways that professional career women are to dress and that is the Business formal, Business professional, Business casual and Casual look. Now many organization take this rules pretty seriously while others are a bit more lenient. If you work in an environment that is a bit more lenient then trust me when I say you can pull off an Ankara corporate attire.
First, let me make you understand why breaking the norm using the Ankara fabric is important; In Africa everything has been westernized and therefore holding onto our ancestry is proving difficult with each turn of the century, however the Ankara fabric popularly termed the african print fabric has boisterous patterns and designs that show of motifs of african heritage. Some might go ahead to say the Ankara print was not originally meant for Africa but what you cannot dispute is the details that were clearly gotten from african culture and heritage. Since we took over production the Ankara fabric has carved a niche as an indigenous piece and every African can attest to that,
Now, why do you need the Ankara corporate attire? If an Arab woman can wear her Abaya or an Arab man can wear his Sikh to work then why can’t we as africans wear work appropriate outfits made from the African print fabric? In all honesty, there is nothing stopping us from changing the set rules, wearing greys’s, deep blue’s, black and white can be boring but the Ankara fabric adds life to an environment therefore, that to me is a major reason to have Ankara corporate attire as part of what is allowed in any work environment.
Below are some cool Ankara corporate styles you could try out this week;
